What to Expect in our Angus Clinic

Chiropractic Care That Feels Calm, Clear, and Supportive

Starting chiropractic care can feel like a big step — especially if you’re living in pain, already feeling stressed, uncomfortable, or unsure what your body needs.

At Sona Chiropractic, we aim to make the process feel clear, informed, and supportive from the very beginning. Our care is centred on listening, understanding how your body is functioning, and working with your nervous system in a way that feels safe and respectful.

Below is an outline of what chiropractic care at Sona typically looks like.

Your First Visit

Taking Time to Understand You

Your first appointment is all about building a clear picture of what has brought you in and how your body has been adapting to life. We’ll begin with a relaxed conversation about:

  • Your current concerns

  • Your health history

  • Past injuries, stresses, or significant life events

  • Your goals for care

This is not a rushed process. Feeling heard and understood is an important part of helping your nervous system feel safe.

Assessing How Your Body Is Functioning

We then carry out a thorough assessment to help us understand how your body is functioning right now. This may include:

  • Orthopaedic testing

  • Neurological testing

  • Posture and movement screening

These assessments help us observe how your joints, muscles, and nervous system are working together, and where your body may be under strain or adapting.

Your First Adjustment (If Indicated)

If it is appropriate and you are comfortable to proceed, you may also receive your first chiropractic adjustment at this visit.

Adjustments at Sona are gentle, specific, and responsive. They are always explained beforehand and carried out with your consent. Our aim is to support your body — never to force change.

Your Second Visit

Making Sense of What We’ve Found

At your second appointment, we take time to talk through what your history and assessments have shown us. Together, we’ll discuss:

  • The key areas we feel are important to focus on

  • How your nervous system and musculoskeletal system may be contributing to your experience

  • What your tailored plan of care is likely to involve

This conversation is collaborative and transparent. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and fully understand the proposed approach.

Continuing Care

You will also receive a chiropractic adjustment at this visit, tailored to your body and how it is responding. Based on our findings, we usually recommend an initial period of regular and consistent care, often over a 6–8 week period. This allows us to support your body through a process of adaptation and change, rather than expecting instant results.

Your Plan of Care

Your plan of care is individual to you.

It is designed to:

  • Support nervous system regulation

  • Improve movement and ease

  • Help your body adapt more effectively to physical and emotional demands

Care is reviewed and adjusted as your body responds. Nothing is fixed or rigid — we work with what your body shows us along the way.

Review Appointment

How is Your Body Adapting and Changing

At the end of your initial care period, we’ll book a review appointment. At this visit we:

  • Discuss how your body has been changing and adapting

  • Revisit your goals

  • Repeat orthopaedic and neurological testing where appropriate

  • Consider posture and movement changes

Based on this, we’ll talk through options for care moving forward — whether that involves ongoing supportive care, a change in frequency, or simply checking in as needed.

Chiropractic care at Sona is not about quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions. It’s about creating the conditions for your body to feel safe, supported, and able to heal in its own time.

Throughout your care, you remain an active participant — informed, empowered, and respected.

If you have any questions at any point, you’re always welcome to ask.
