A sanctuary for ease, safety, and whole-family wellbeing.
At Sona Chiropractic, we believe health is not simply the absence of pain — it is the presence of ease, energy, and connection.
Our vision is to create a sanctuary for families to reconnect with their bodies, restore their nervous systems, and rediscover their vitality, supporting lifelong health, resilience, and joyful living.
In a world that often moves too fast, many bodies spend long periods in a state of stress and protection. Over time, this can influence how we move, how we feel, and how well we recover from life’s demands. At Sona, we offer a different pace — one that prioritises safety, gentleness, and nervous system regulation.
-
Our care is grounded in a nervous-system-informed, polyvagal perspective. This means we understand that healing happens most effectively when the body feels safe.
When the nervous system perceives safety, it can shift out of constant protection and into states associated with rest, repair, and connection. Through gentle chiropractic care and a calm, supportive environment, we focus on helping your body feel safe enough to release tension and restore balance, allowing its own healing processes to unfold.
This approach does not chase symptoms or promise quick fixes. Instead, it supports and respects your body’s natural capacity to adapt, regulate, and recover — at a pace that feels right for you.
-
Sona Chiropractic is built around whole-family care. From newborns to grandparents, every generation is welcome here.
We recognise that wellbeing is shaped by many influences — physical, emotional, social, and environmental. Our approach honours the deep connection between mind and body, and where appropriate, we integrate chiropractic care with complementary therapies to support healing at every stage of life.
Whether care is sought for pain, stress, or simply to support ongoing wellbeing, our intention is always the same: to meet you where you are and support you with compassion, clarity, and respect.
-
From the physical space to the way we interact, every detail at Sona Chiropractic is designed to promote calm, comfort, and a sense of being at home in your body.
This is not a cold, clinical environment. It is a warm, welcoming space where you are listened to deeply, cared for genuinely, and supported as a whole person.

How I work
My work blends clinical chiropractic training with a gentle, nervous-system-informed approach. I practise with a calm approach and deep respect for the body’s wisdom, always working within comfort, consent, and individual readiness. I do not aim to force change or promise cures. Instead, my role is to support optimal neuro-biomechanical function of your spine, in a way that also considers nervous system regulation — helping the body feel safe enough to adapt and heal. I support my clients to listen to their body, to bring awareness to the impact that daily stresses have on their nervous system, and help them make lifestyle changes that encourage greater sense of nervous system ease, increased vitality and prolonged wellbeing.
People often describe my care as unhurried, attentive, and grounding. Appointments are a space to slow down, be listened to, and feel supported.
Professional Standards
I am registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) and practise in accordance with its standards of conduct, performance, and ethics.
I work within the scope of chiropractic practice and engage in ongoing professional development to ensure care remains safe, evidence-informed, and appropriate for each individual.
Founder + Principal Chiropractor in Kirriemuir, Angus
Hi, I’m Dr Ruth — chiropractor, mum of two, and founder of Sona Chiropractic.
For me, chiropractic care is more than a profession; it is a calling shaped by personal experience. Years ago, after a fall left me living with chronic back pain throughout my teenage years and in to early adulthood, a chance conversation led me to chiropractic care - forever altering my life’s trajectory.
That experience brought not only physical relief, but also a renewed sense of clarity, energy, and connection within myself . Allowing me to move away from a life ruled my chronic pain and restricted movement and towards greater wellbeing and vitality - something I now wish for every person who walks through our doors.
As a busy parent, I see first-hand how modern life places increasing demands on both adult and children’s nervous systems. Our children are facing pressures earlier than ever before, and I believe one of the greatest gifts we can offer them is a healthy, resilient nervous system from the start. This belief sits at the heart of Sona’s whole-family approach.
